The Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City strongly urges visa applicants to carefully read all the information provided below in order to avoid unnecessary delays or cancellation of their applications.

Update on visa requirements for nationals of Mexico, Guatemala, and Cuba

As of 15 September 2026, nationals of Mexico, Guatemala, and Cuba holding ordinary passports will be required to obtain a Thai visa to enter Thailand, regardless of the purpose of their travel, due to the revocation of the 60-day Visa Exemption scheme, in accordance with the Notifications of the Ministry of Interior, published on 31 August 2026.

Please consult the entry requirements for Thailand set out below, as well as general information on visa applications below.

On the other hand, nationals of Honduras, Nicaragua, and Belize continue to require a Thai visa to enter Thailand, with no changes to the current requirements.

Requirements for Entry into Thailand

• A valid passport with a minimum validity of six months upon entry into Thailand.
• A visa corresponding to the purpose of the travel, unless the traveler is eligible to enter under a visa exemption scheme.
  Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): an immigration entry form that must be completed within three days prior to arrival through the following website: https://tdac.immigration.go.th/
• A Thai Immigration officer may request additional documentation relating to the activities the traveler will undertake in the country or proof of sufficient financial means. For tourism purposes, for example, the officer may request accommodation reservations, activity reservations, an onward or return ticket, proof of sufficient financial means of not less than the equivalent of THB 20,000 per person, or other supporting documents.

It is not mandatory to present such documents in printed form; they may be presented in digital format if requested.

Notes

A tourist visa permits a maximum stay of 60 days per entry. An extension of up to 30 additional days may be requested in person at a unit of the Thai Immigration Bureau.

eVISA – Thailand Electronic Visas

General Information

All types of visa application MUST be submitted and processed through e-Visa system at thaievisa.go.th. Information regarding requirements for each visa category as well as visa fees can be found on the said website.

It is no longer necessary to present the passport or original supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City.

Once the application has been approved, the applicant will receive a confirmation email and the e-Visa in PDF format, which MUST be printed and presented to the airline and Thai immigration authorities.

Information input

• If the applicant has two names (primer nombre and segundo nombre) and two family names (primer apellido and segundo apellido), the names must be filled in the following manner:
• Given name: [primer nombre]
• Middle name: [segundo nombre]
• Family name: [primer apellido segundo apellido]

Please note that if the personal information entered in the e-Visa system is incorrect or incomplete, the Embassy will not be able to modify it, and the visa application may be subject to cancellation. The applicant will be required to submit a new application with the correct and complete information.

Processing Time

Once all required documents have been uploaded to the system and are complete and satisfactory, visa issuance may take approximately 5–10 business days.

We recommend submitting the visa application at least one month before the intended date of entry into Thailand.

Visa Validity and Permitted Stay

Issued visas become valid immediately from the date of issuance. The visa validity period refers to the period during which the visa may be used to enter Thailand. Upon entry into the country, the immigration officer will grant the permitted duration of stay. The permitted stay for a tourist visa is generally 60 days per entry. 

Document Indicating Current Location

The Embassy accepts visa applications regardless of the applicant’s nationality or residency status, provided that the applicant is physically present and remains in one of the countries under its jurisdiction throughout the application process, from application submission to visa issuance.

The countries under the Embassy’s jurisdiction are Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cuba, Haiti, and Belize.

The document indicating the applicant’s current location must prove that the applicant is currently staying in one of the aforementioned countries and may consist of:

• For nationals: a copy of the national ID card (INE) or, for minors, a copy of the birth certificate.
• For residents: a copy of the residence card (temporary or permanent) or equivalent.
• In other cases: a copy of the passport with an entry stamp into one of the countries,mmnmnm the corresponding visa or the visa used to enter the country (if applicable), as well as proof of accommodation in that country.

Required Documents

Information regarding the required documents for each visa category is available on the thaievisa.go.th platform.

During the review of the application, visa officers may request modifications or additional documentation through the platform. However, a visa application requiring more than two modifications will be subject to cancellation. Therefore, applicants are strongly advised to carefully review the additional requirements established by the Royal Thai Embassy for documents requested through the thaievisa.go.th platform, as outlined below:

Proof of accommodation in Thailand:

• Document(s) indicating the applicant’s accommodation in Thailand, such as a hotel reservation, lease agreement, or invitation letter from a resident in Thailand, covering the entire duration of the applicant’s intended stay in the country.
  • Accommodation reservations must be issued directly by the hotel, agency platform (Booking.com, Agoda, etc.), or accommodation establishment and must clearly specify the name(s) of the guest(s), including the applicant’s name in the case of reservations for multiple guests. Confirmations issued solely by a travel agency will not be accepted.
  • If the document indicates only one guest’s name and the number of guests but does not include the visa applicant’s name, a letter from the reservation holder explaining the situation must be attached, together with a copy of their identification document.
  • If the applicant will be staying at the home of an acquaintance or a resident in Thailand, an invitation letter must be attached, together with a copy of the inviter’s identification document and a copy of their house registration (Tabian Baan - ทะเบียนบ้าน) or lease agreement in Thailand.
  • If there are multiple accommodation reservations, applicants are requested to submit the documents in chronological order, with the guest’s name and the check-in and check-out dates clearly underlined.

• Travel booking confirmation:

  Flight reservation documents for round-trip flights from the country of departure to Thailand, including all connecting flights, clearly showing the applicant’s name and complete itinerary details.

  • The itinerary must also include the return or onward flight from Thailand to the applicant’s country of departure, country of origin, or country of residence, as applicable.

  • For example, if a multiple-entry visa applicant departs from Mexico, transits through Japan, enters Thailand, subsequently travels to Laos, re-enters Thailand to stay for a few days, and finally takes a return flight to Mexico, the applicant must provide reservations covering the entire itinerary: Mexico–Japan, Japan–Thailand, Thailand–Laos, Laos–Thailand, Thailand–Japan, and Japan–Mexico.

  • Applicants are requested to submit the documents in chronological order, with the traveler’s name, arrival (landing) date, and, where applicable, departure date of each flight clearly underlined.

• Financial evidence: As a general rule, a document showing the closing balances for the most recent three months (bank statements) is required. The closing balance for each month must be equal to or greater than the minimum required amount.

  • If the bank statements are denominated in a currency other than United States dollars (USD) or Thai baht (THB), a screenshot or annotation showing the conversion of the closing balances into USD or THB must be attached.

  • Applicants are requested to underline the account holder’s name, the statement period, and the closing balance.

  • The funds presented must be liquid, meaning that they must be immediately available for use. Therefore, only bank statements for debit or savings accounts will be accepted.

  • If the travel expenses are sponsored by a third party or by the person inviting the applicant, the following additional documents must also be provided:

    • The sponsor’s bank statements meeting the requirements specified above.
    • A duly signed sponsorship letter.
    • A document proving the family relationship between the applicant and the sponsor, such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate.
    • A copy of the sponsor’s official identification document.

• Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status (for Workation DTV) - The required documents are the following:
• A CV or résumé outlining the applicant's professional background.
• A letter from the applicant explaining their current occupation and the nature of their professional activities.
• Three examples of the applicant's work or completed projects.
• Three proofs of payment received from the applicant's employer, company, or clients.

Notes

• The Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City accepts visa applications from applicants who are physically present in one of the countries under our jurisdiction (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cuba, Haiti, and Belize) during the application process and who will travel to Thailand from one of these countries.
• Applicants are strongly advised to verify all personal information before submission, as the information provided cannot be modified either by the applicant or by the Embassy.
• Applicants are responsible for providing all required information, including their full name exactly as it appears in their travel document.
• Incorrect personal information may result in denial of entry into the country.
• If the submitted supporting documents do not meet certain visa application requirements, the Embassy may request additional documents deemed necessary.
• Once all required documents have been completely and satisfactorily submitted to the system, visa issuance may take 5 - 10  business days.
• Visa fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
• The e-Visa becomes valid on the date of issuance. Travelers are responsible for ensuring that they use their visa before it expires. In general, a single-entry visa is valid for 90 days.
