Opal, Miss Universe Thailand 2024, Joined the Fashion Show in Thai-Mexican Textile Exhibition hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico

Over 200 attendees, including government and private sector representatives, Mexican media, and members of the international diplomatic corps, as well as nearly 100,000 online viewers through live streaming, tuned in to watch Ms. Suchata Chuangsri, Opal, Miss Universe Thailand 2024, walked the runway at the textile exhibition, "Weaving Cultures: Thai and Mexican Textiles in Harmony", held at the Thai Residence in Mexico City on October 29, 2024.

Opal wore a specially designed outfit for the event, featuring a "50 Years of Relations" design that combines Thai and Mexican motifs. Alongside her, the Thai ambassador and his spouse, as well as distinguished Mexican guests, walked in traditional Thai textiles, and select garments from the state of Oaxaca were also showcased.

This event, organized in collaboration with Naresuan University Textile Museum and the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, marks the start of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Mexico. It highlights Thai cultural "Soft Power" through traditional textiles and cuisine. The event featured woven textiles from northern Thailand alongside Oaxaca's indigenous fabrics from southern Mexico.

Activities included: (1) a cultural opening performance with Hanuman with Spanish narration, followed by Thai Isan and Oaxaca's Mixteca dances to welcome attendees; (2) a panel discussion with textile experts from Thailand and Mexico; and (3) exhibition boards presentation exploring the similarities and differences in Thai and Mexican weaving traditions, along with displays of Tai Lue and Oaxaca traditional attire.

Additionally, the embassy offered Thai handwoven textiles and OTOP products for sale, and leading Thai restaurants in Mexico City set up booths for attendees to enjoy Thai cuisine.

The "Weaving Cultures: Thai and Mexican Textiles in Harmony" exhibition is open from October 29 to November 1, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Thai Residence in Mexico City.
