Visa types and purposes of visit
The consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents and reject any application without prejudice. Applicants must provide legitimate information. If the officers find false information from applicants, the consular officers shall reject the application with notices for appropriate action to prohibit them from entering Thailand.
The visa has a validity of 90 days after its issuance. The visa validity is different from the permission to stay in Thailand. The mentioned permission will begin and count from day one upon arrival. The visa validity automatically commences once issued and granted.

Tourist Visa
Tourists (60 days with another 30-day extension stay)
Single-entry tourist visa
Required documents
- The application form printed and signed by the applicant. The signature must be the same as the one on the passport.
- 2 recent professional color photographs taken within 6 months with a dimension of 3.5 x 4.5 centimeters, white background, and without wearing a hat or glasses. Informal photographs and photocopies are not accepted.
- The original valid passport for at least 6 months without any defects.
- A copy of the passport (the first page that contains the applicant's information).
- The proof of transport and accommodation reservations showing the date of entry and the departure date from Thailand (the complete itinerary). The name of the applicant must be shown in the documents.
- Applicants who stay in a hotel or apartment, a reservation confirmation for the entire stay in Thailand with the name, address, and contact details of the hotel or apartment is required.
- Applicants who stay with a non-Thai citizen who owns a house, condo, or apartment; an invitation letter, a copy of his or her passport, a copy of his or her visa, residence permit and work permit in Thailand, and a copy of house register (Ta-bien-baan) and buying contract are required.
- Applicants who stay with a non-Thai citizen who rents a house, condo or apartment; an invitation letter, a copy of his or her passport, a copy of his or her visa, residence permit and work permit in Thailand, and a copy of the rental or leasing agreement are required.
- Applicants who stay with a Thai citizen or Thai spouse; an invitation letter with a copy of his or her Thai ID or passport and a copy of the house register (Ta-bien-baan) are required.
- The proof of income (a bank statement).
- The bank account should have at least 20,000 THB or 15,000 MXN or in other equivalent currency for the recent month for a single applicant.
- The bank account should have at least 40,000 THB or 30,000 MXN or in other equivalent currency for the recent month for family group applicants.
- In case of submitting a family bank statement, a proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided and a letter of financial responsibility.
- The embassy does not accept credit cards or screen captures.

- This type of tourist visa is valid for a single entry into Thailand for tourism purposes only.
Multiple-entry tourist visa
Required documents
- The application form printed and signed by the applicant. The signature must be the same as the one on the passport.

- The bank account should have at least 360,000 THB or 200,000 MXN or in other equivalent currency per month for the last six months for family group applicants.
- In case of submitting a family bank statement, a proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided and a letter of financial responsibility.
- The embassy does not accept credit cards or screen captures.
Note
- This type of tourist visa is valid for multiple entries into Thailand for tourism purposes only.
General notes
- This type of visa cannot be changed to another category during the stay in Thailand.
- If the visa holders breach the conditions for entering Thailand, the permission to stay will be revoked immediately, and the holders will be prohibited from entering Thailand.
- A tourist visa grants only 60 permitted days to stay in Thailand. If the applicants wish to extend the stay for another 30 days, they must submit a commitment letter, which indicates the intention, at the nearest immigration office within 60 days after the arrival. The signature must be the same as the one on the passport.
- Applicants who are not passport holders from Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Haiti must show a copy of proof of residence in Mexico (FM2 or FM3).

Transit Visa

This type of visa is issued to applicants who are entering to Thailand for the following purposes:
- Transiting through Thailand’s airports exceeding 12 hours before proceeding to the third country of destination or returning to your home country.
- Participating in sports activities.
- Captain or crew of a conveyance coming to the port, station, or area in Thailand.
Required documents

- A recent professional color photograph taken within 6 months with a dimension of 3.5 x 4.5 centimeters, white background, and without wearing a hat or glasses. Informal photographs and photocopies are not accepted.

The Visa on Arrival allows passport holders of the following countries (Click here) to enter Thailand under this rule provided that they meet these requirements:
- The entire procedure will be completed at the airports in Thailand.
- The visit is strictly for tourism purposes.
- The passport must be genuine and valid for at least 30 days.
- Applicants must have a valid address in Thailand.
- Applicants must have a confirmed return ticket. If applicants do not possess a flight ticket to show that they will exit Thailand within 15 days of entry, they shall be refused from entering Thailand.
- The proof of income is necessary. Applicants must have at least 10,000 THB per person and 20,000 THB per family during their stay in Thailand.
- A fee of 2,000 THB is payable upon entry and is subject to change without notice. It must be paid in cash and Thai currency only.
- The Visa on Arrival cannot be extended.

- The proof of registration of the company in Thailand with the list of shareholders of the company (issued no longer than 6 months).

To work as a teacher or academic employee in (public or private) primary or vocational education institutes in Thailand
- The letter of certification of the institute or school under the Ministry of Education.
- The letter of employment issued by the institute or school signed by the authorized authority of such institute or school with a copy of identification of such signer.
- The proof of registration of the institute or school as an educational center in Thailand.
- The criminal record issued in your country.
- The title or certificate of your studies.
- The work permit (When applicants wish to continue working with the same employer).
To work as a teacher or academic employee in (public or private) colleges or universities in Thailand
- The letter of employment issued by the college or university signed by the authorized authority of such college or university with a copy of the identification of such signer.
- The proof of registration of the college or university as a center of education in Thailand.
- The criminal record issued in your country.
- The title or certificate of your studies.
- The work permit (When applicants wish to continue working with the same employer).
To attend business meetings, conduct business, or participate in training courses under the same company or the same group of companies
- The letter of employment issued by the company in your country, which mentions the position and current salary of the applicant, the purpose of such business trip to Thailand and the name of the company in Thailand.
- The invitation letter from the company in Thailand and a copy of the official identification of the signer of such letter.
- The proof of registration of the company and the company in Thailand (issued no longer than 6 months).
- The proof of transport and accommodation reservations showing the date of entry and the departure date from Thailand. The name of the applicant must be shown in the documents.
- The proof of income (a bank statement).
- If your purpose is to participate in MICE activities (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions), subsidized by the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), applicants must apply for a single-entry tourist visa.

To be a volunteer at an NGO, foundation, or nonprofit association without receiving any salary, income, or compensation
- The letter of certification from the NGO, foundation, or nonprofit association signed by the authorized authority with a copy of the official identification of such signer.
- The proof of registration or permission of such NGO, foundation, or nonprofit association.
- The work permit (When applicants wish to continue working with the same NGO, foundation, or nonprofit association).
Notes
- If applicants receive salary, income, or compensation, they must apply for a non-immigrant B visa (without the necessity of Tor Thor 3).
- All applicants who accompany the volunteers must apply for a non-immigrant visa O.
To visit the spouse, child, or relative who has a Thai nationality
- The proof of a relationship with such a family member. For example, a marriage certificate, a copy of identification of such family members having Thai nationality, etc.
- The proof of transport and accommodation reservations showing the date of entry and the departure date from Thailand. The name of the applicant must be shown in the documents.
- The proof of income (a letter of employment and a bank statement).
Note
- If the applicants apply for multiple entries, they must agree to leave Thailand and return to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Haiti, as appropriate, and re-enter Thailand again when necessary for one year. Each time the applicants enter Thailand, the length of stay cannot surpass 90 days.
To appear before a court in court cases
- The proof of the judicial case which shows the relationship with the accused, suspect, plaintiff or witness.
- The proof of transport and accommodation reservations showing the date of entry and the departure date from Thailand. The name of the applicant must be shown in the documents.
- The proof of income (a letter of employment and a bank statement).

To enter to study at the university level with the public or private college or university
- The letter from the college or university signed by the authorized authority (at the level of the rector or his or her representative) with a copy of the official identification of such signer.
- The proof of registration of the college or university as a center of education.
- The criminal record issued in your country.
- The academic record (for continuous study).
To attend the training courses of a company, or international organization, which is part of the applicants' academic course
- The letter of certification from the company or organization.
- The letter of certification from the college or university.

- If the courses are not a part of the academic course, the applicants must apply for a non-immigrant B visa.

Non-O-A : Retirement
This type of visa serves applicants 50 years old or over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding one year without the intention of working. Any employment is strictly prohibited.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be at least 50 years of age (on the day of applying).
- Applicants are not prohibited from entering Thailand as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).
- Applicants must have no criminal record in Thailand and the country of their nationality or residence.
- Applicants must have the nationality of or permanent residence in the country where the application is submitted.
- Applicants must not have prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.
- Applicants must have health insurance covering the length of stay in Thailand with no less than 40,000 THB coverage for outpatient treatment and no less than 400,000 THB for inpatient treatment (must be specifically mentioned).
- Applicants are prohibited from engaging in any gainful employment in Thailand.
Required documents
- 3 application forms printed and signed by the applicant (non-immigrant and multiple entries). The signature must be the same as the one on the passport.
- 3 recent professional color photographs taken within 6 months with a dimension of 3.5 x 4.5 centimeters, white background, and without wearing a hat or glasses. Informal photographs and photocopies are not accepted.
- The original valid passport for at least 18 months without any defects.
- A copy of the passport (the first page that contains the applicant's information).
- Applicants who are not passport holders from Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Haiti must show a copy of proof of residence in Mexico (FM2 or FM3).
- The proof of transport and accommodation reservations showing the date of entry and the departure date from Thailand. The name of the applicant must be shown in the documents.
- The health insurance covering the length of stay in Thailand with no less than 40,000 THB coverage for outpatient treatment and no less than 400,000 THB for inpatient treatment (must be specifically mentioned).
- In the case of a foreign insurance company, the applicants must submit the original insurance policy document with 2 copies. Foreign Insurance Certificate as stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and Health Insurance of Thailand, which must be completed, signed and stamped by the insurance company. - In the case of a Thai insurance company, the applicant must submit 2 copies of the insurance policy document or, if available, the original insurance policy document with 2 copies. A list of Thai insurance companies participating in the scheme can be found here: http://longstay.tgia.org
- The proof of income. The bank statement must show a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 THB, or an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 THB, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 THB. In the case of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required. Another equivalent currency is acceptable.
- The criminal record issued either by the local authorities where the applicants have a permanent residence or permit of stay, or by the local authorities in the country where his or her citizenship belongs to. The letter has to be valid for not more than 3 months.
- The medical certificate that shows no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E. 2535). The letter has to be valid for not more than 3 months. It is compulsory to submit all the medical examinations carried out to verify that the applicant does not really have the aforementioned prohibitive diseases.
General notes
- All required documents mentioned above must be sent to [email protected] for pre-approval. Once all documents are verified and approved by email, the applicants shall make a payment.
- In the case that the spouse is not eligible for the category O-A visa, he or she will be considered for a temporary stay under the category O visa. A marriage certificate must be provided as evidence.
Recommendations
- Upon arrival, the holders of this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for one year from the date of first entry.
- At the end of the 90-day stay, the holders must report to the immigration officer in their residence area and report again every 90 days during their stay in Thailand. The holders may report to the police station if there is no immigration office in the residence area.
- The holders may report to the competent authority by post and should provide the following.
- A report form (Tor Mor 47).
- A copy of the passport (the pages that show the personal details, and the latest arrival visa stamp).
- A copy of the previous receipt of acknowledgment.
- A self-addressed envelope with postage affixed.
- Such documents must be sent to Immigration Division 1, 120 Moo 3, Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, and must be submitted 7 days before the end of every 90 days. A receipt of acknowledgment will be given and should be used for future correspondence.
- The holders who wish to extend their stay shall submit a request for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau with documented evidence of money transfer or a deposit account in Thailand or an income certificate showing an amount of not less than 800,000 THB, or an income certificate plus a deposit account showing a total amount of not less than 800,000 THB. A one-year extension of stay shall be granted at the discretion of the immigration officer to the holders as long as they meet the above requirements.
Non-F : Temporary participation in official government activities/Attendance at official meetings/Invitations from official government agencies (Ordinary passports)
Required documents
- The application form printed and signed by the applicant. The signature must be the same as the one on the passport.
