Thai Ambassador discusses with the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Thai-Mexican cooperation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations
On January 30, 2025, between 10:30 - 11:00 AM, H.E. Mr. Rooge Thammongkol, Ambassador of Thailand to Mexico, welcomed Mr. Fernando Gonzalez Saiffe, Director General for Asia-Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, to discuss activities promoting Thai-Mexican cooperation in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The Director General was briefed on the activities that the Thai Embassy has undertaken since 2024, as well as the plans for 2025, which include over 20 initiatives covering politics, trade and investment, culture, and education.
The Ambassador emphasized Embassy’s priority in fostering business cooperation, particularly the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federation of Thai Industries and the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment, and Technology (COMCE), as well as exchanges of visits between the two sides at the end of 2024. Additionally, the Ambassador highlighted efforts to encourage Thai private sector investment in Mexico’s food industry, recognizing Mexico as a high-potential market.
On the Mexican side, the Director General expressed Mexico’s readiness to participate in the 6th Thailand-Mexico Political Consultations, which Thailand will host this year. Both sides also discussed strengthening cooperation in emerging areas of mutual benefit, such as clean energy, digital transformation, and smart cities, as well as enhancing collaboration and knowledge exchange on international platforms.
